MEASURE IT YOURSELF GUIDE

All you need is a measuring tape and a pencil to do it yourself. The sample floor plans will show you how to draw the countertop. Please contact a sales associate if you have any questions.

  1. Sketch out your kitchen. You will start in a corner and work out measuring from left to right. Write down all measurements to the nearest inch on the floor plan including the depth of the countertop. Standard kitchen cabinets are 24” deep. While doing this keep in mind where your range is if it slides in. A standard range is 30”. Also make sure and indicate if you have a popout window that runs flush with the countertop.

  2. Specify where the refrigerator is. Next illustrate the placement of your sink. Find the center of your sink by measuring from a wall to the center of the sink base cabinet. Tell us if you want a top mount (T/M) or undermount (U/M) sink. Next point out where your range or cooktop is. A cooktop sits on top with a base cabinet. If you have a slide in range let us know if it is a slide in or a drop in.

  3. Now you will draw in the back splash. Standard kitchen back splash is 6”. Check to see that the outlets clear. You can also go with full back splash which is approximately 18”. You will need to let us know how many outlets you have with full back splash. If you need to go lower or a little higher than 6” indicate that on the drawing. Also keep in mind that you do not have to do granite back splash.

  4. If you have an island you will want to also place this in your drawing. If you want a radius on any of the countertops, indicate that.
